You asked me many questions and I answered them all

We spoke about people, places and things

You wanted to hear about my thoughts and feelings

Until fatigued, we lapsed into a comfortable silence

While we listened to songs that we discovered we both liked

With my head on your chest and your arm around me

The hours disappeared, and the night soon followed

To make way for a grey morning, obscured by clouds

The sun too weak to win the age-old battle for the sky

We went to your bed together, undressed each other

And you held me in your arms and kissed me tenderly

And we gently drifted off into a peaceful sleep

Happy in each others’ arms, while it lasted

Two occasional lovers, almost friends, never more
